Tennessee Waltz

The Tennessee Waltz with lyrics by Redd Stewart and music by Pee Wee King was written in 1946 and first released in 1948. It has been recorded many times over the years. I decided to go retro for my version and I recorded it in a similar style as the original featuring dobro, fiddle, guitar, mandolin and upright bass.
I had been taught a very cool version of the song some years ago on the piano by a dear friend. This had been her favorite song. I recorded this version to give to her husband after she passed but alas I was not able to share it with him before he passed as well. This version was played at his funeral and I have been unable to release it since I recorded in 2016 because it was just too painful. I am now ready to share this emotional tribute to my friends Ed and Mary Hatmaker. They remain loved and cherished in my heart.

when an old friend I happened to see.
I introduced him to my loved one,
and while they were dancing
my friend stole my sweet-heart from me.

I remember the night and the Tennessee waltz.
