Ordinary Joe 03:57
ORDINARY JOE Well I’m no model and not much to look at Not a leading man I know I ain’t all that I worked hard all my life at too many jobs to name But without those days I’d have no songs to sing I’m just an ordinary Joe I still rake up my fallen leaves I cut my ordinary grass and I still pull my weeds I’m just an ordinary Joe I’m proud of who I am And it’s great to wake up beside the same woman everyday I’ve made a few dollars my shows are all sold out I guess I've been lucky bought a brand new house Been missin’ my wife in too many towns to name But without those nights I’d have no songs to sing I’m just an ordinary Joe I still rake up my fallen leaves I cut my ordinary grass and I still pull my weeds I’m just an ordinary Joe I’m proud of who I am And it’s great to wake up beside the same woman everyday I still wash my Chevy and take out my own trash and roll in the grass with my dog I still clean my catfish and I break guitar strings and I misplaced the TV remote again! I’m just an ordinary Joe I still rake up my fallen leaves I cut my ordinary grass and I still pull my weeds I’m just an ordinary Joe I’m red, white, and blue Yes I'm proud to be that man that does these things I do And it’s great to wake up and know that I’m still an ordinary Joe I’m still an ordinary Joe I'm just an ordinary Joe

Only You 03:44
ONLY YOU Lookin' from a window above It's like a story of love Can you hear me? Came back only yesterday I'm movin' farther away Want you near me All I needed was the love you gave All I needed for another day And all I ever knew Only you Sometimes when I think of her name When it's only a game And I need you Listen to the words that you say It's gettin' harder to stay When I see you All I needed was the love you gave All I needed for another day And all I ever knew Only you This is going to take a long time And I wonder what's mine I can't take no more I wonder if you'll understand With just a touch of your hand Behind a closed door All I needed was the love you gave All I needed for another day And all I ever knew(All I only knew) Only you

What If 03:16
WHAT IF You said you trusted me I said I'd always follow you But somewhere deep inside We knew we seldom told the truth Throughout these many years Those words are ringing in my ears I can't help wonder how It would be different now What if I told you that I loved you from the start What if you told me you were running from a broken heart Longing is a consequence of wondering what might have been If we were true before we fell apart Missed opportunities That is the story of my life Such is my legacy Always one step behind Standing on the water's edge As if I'm on a building ledge Scared that if I dive on in I'll never make it out again What if I told you that I loved you from the start What if you told me you were running from a broken heart Longing is a consequence of wondering what might have been If we were true before we fell apart So I second guess the things I've done And wonder if you were the one And only that was ever meant for me What if I told you that I loved you from the start What if you told me you were running from a broken heart Longing is a consequence of wondering what might have been If we were true before we fell apart

BIG OAK TREES From the mountains to the plains And the places that grow the corn And grain all over this land I've met a whole lot of great folks It's like a dream and I awoke ...with my guitar in my hand Oh take me back to those towns with their big oak trees Take me back, take me back to the good ole country Take me back to mom's home cookin' A good old fashioned whuppin' Where a moonlight dance could turn into romance I moved to the city in my youth I never looked back and that's the truth Never knew I missed it now I'm a man I've known a lot of heart aches It's not the same when I awake ...without my guitar in my hand Oh take me back to those towns with their big oak trees Take me back, take me back to the good ole country Take me back to mom's home cookin' A good old fashioned whuppin' Where a moonlight dance could turn into romance You can take the boy out of the country But you can never take the country out of this man Oh take me back to those towns with their big oak trees Take me back, take me back to the good ole country Take me back to mom's home cookin' A good old fashioned whuppin' Where a moonlight dance could turn into romance Take me back to mom's home cookin' A good old fashioned whuppin' Where a moonlight dance could turn into romance Where a moonlight dance could turn into romance

TWO DIFFERENT HEARTS He comes from a small town and he's got a big heart He doesn't like the mall said he prefers Wal-Mart Always such a gentleman he treats me real nice I just can't resist that Country smile in his eyes I miss his scent and the way that his lips cover mine She lives in the city over on the West Coast We met when her Lexus tangled with a fence post Always such a lady yeah she's sugar and spice I just can't resist that lovin' look in her eyes I miss her laugh and the way that she feels in my arms We're two different hearts with the same story to tell With so many dreams for the wishing well So don't count love out because the night is still young It's not just a fling when all is said and done My only regret is that we didn't run away I wished that I'd told him all I wanted to say Now I'll never know just what could have been The kisses we shared are now gone with the wind I miss his smile and the way that cowboy rescued me I remember the night I took her hand in mine I told her I loved her and I would all the time I kissed her sweet lips while the moon and rain clouds danced Said that I had to get back to my life and the ranch I miss her still every time I see that broken fence We're two different hearts with the same story to tell With so many dreams for the wishing well So don't count love out because the night is still young It's not just a fling when all is said and done My heart dies inside Late at night I cry from what I have done We're two different hearts with the same story to tell With so many dreams for the wishing well So don't count love out because the night is still young It's not just a fling when all is said and done

The Summit 03:19
THE SUMMIT It was 1933 when Joe Chiriaco staked his claim And in 1934 a pretty blond girl took his name They had no electricity just a dollar and a dream The desert heat's unkind, they didn't have much water to spare Then the children came along, 'cuz Joe and Ruth had love to share They lived, laughed, and loved, and worked their fingers to the bone Beside a desert road, it was a friendly place You'd get a Coke and a smile and a firm handshake Beside a desert road at The Summit... it started with a dollar and a dream During World War II the U.S. Army came to train General Patton led the men, a museum still bears his name They had no place else to go to get away from the burning sun A few more years went by the post office came to stay And in 1958, Chiriaco Summit became the name They lived, laughed, and loved, still worked their fingers to the bone Beside a desert road, it was a friendly place You'd get a Coke and a smile and a firm handshake Beside a desert road at The Summit... it started with a dollar and a dream They've still got that dollar It reminds them of their start And they've still got big dreams in their heart Beside a desert road, it was a friendly place You'd get a Coke and a smile and a firm handshake Beside a desert road at The Summit... Beside a desert road, it was a friendly place You'd get a Coke and a smile and a firm handshake Beside a desert road at The Summit... it started with a dollar and a dream

HE STOPPED LOVING HER TODAY He said I'll love you 'til I die She told him you'll forget in time As the years went slowly by She still preyed upon his mind He kept her picture on his wall Went half crazy now and then He still loved her through it all Hoping she'd come back again Kept some letters by his bed Dated 1962 He had underlined in red Every single "I love you" I went to see him just today Oh but I didn't see no tears All dressed up to go away First time I'd seen him smile in years He stopped loving her today They placed a wreath upon his door And soon they'll carry him away He stopped loving her today You know she came to see him one last time Oh and we all wondered if she would And it kept running through my mind This time he's over her for good He stopped loving her today They placed a wreath upon his door And soon they'll carry him away He stopped loving her today

IF YOU WANNA' CRY I was searching For that perfect little sound And I was hoping To get that job I'd found 'Cause I've been trying To get my band uptown I got down on my knees Here's what He said to me: If you wanna' cry You'll need a steel guitar If you're gonna' try To play the music in your heart If you wanna' cry You'll need a steel guitar I'm sending you Doc Davis We've been riding In a gray old rusty Dodge For sixty dollars we even played a lodge And we're so tired Of livin' on the road I got down on my knees Here's what he said to me If you wanna' cry You'll need a steel guitar If you're gonna' try To play the music in your heart If you wanna' cry You'll need a steel guitar I'm sending you Doc Davis

about

The first song "Ordinary Joe", is Thad declaring that no matter how much success he may have, he will always be proud to be just a regular guy. Right after that comes the bluegrass flavored "Only You" which was first done by the synth pop group YAZ in 1982 but The River Rat* did it HIS way. The third song "What If", is a plaintive question one often asks in regards to relationships and what went wrong. Next comes "Big Oak Trees", a delightful statement about the joys of small town living. "Two Different Hearts" follows and is a riveting up tempo duet with pop chanteuse Paulina Sinaga.
"The Summit" is the true story of Chiriaco Summit, a small community located in the Sonoran Desert. "He Stopped Loving Her Today" is reverently covered with not only a deep respect for George Jones but with the thought of bringing new life to the classic ode to long lost love. The finger snapping, toe tapping "If You Wanna' Cry" has Thad honoring his long time Steel Guitar player David "Doc" Davis. "My thought was to do for the steel guitar what 'The Devil Went Down To Georgia' did for the fiddle, which was to bring it out into the limelight for people to sit up and take notice of since a lot of the great steel licks in country music are often buried in the mix."quips Thad. The duet with Brian Lynn Jones on the rockin' "Lake Havasu" is about the good times Thad experienced on the lake as a boy and how that as a man there are still plenty of good times to be had on the "blue water in the shade of velvet mesquite trees". The final cut, "Me And You" takes the listener home with a gentle nod towards innocence and that first love we all experienced, treasured and held close to our heart.

REVIEWS:

Great CD!
Love Thad Foster's music. I have all of his CDs. Love that he sings/plays from his heart.-Bobbi McMillin

It's about time!
I waited three years for this album and it was well worth the wait! He's got new stuff, old stuff and even some in between on this one! My favorite is "What If" because Thad is stretching out to reach not only his fans that love his traditional sound but he is embracing the newer sound that is permeating country music these days but yet he still brings in the traditional music as well. Like his cover of George Jones "He Stopped Loving Her Today" he shows that he can sing the old stuff with the best of them but he also has something edgy going on with new stuff like "What If" and "Two Different Hearts". I would give this five stars except that there's a song that Thad does live that I absolutely adore and I was hoping and waiting for it to be on this CD and it wasn't! : ( I DO love this CD though! Great job!-Claire Wesley
